Why the Bible?

What is the origin of life? What is the purpose of life? These questions would be readily answered if one accepted the existence of a Creator. But where could the Creator be found?

Was the Creator, if He existed, the same Creator as described in the Bible?

I was not sure. However, I was inclined to believe that if there was a God, it had more than 50% chance that it was the same God in the Bible.

Firstly, the Creator must be great, but our belief to Him did not need to be complicated. In fact, it must be very simple for anyone, wise or foolish, educated or uneducated, young or old, to be able to understand His wills, at least so much as to be “saved” or just came to Him. If only the wise or educated could understand how to reach him, then the Creator showed favoritism to some people. However, the Creator could not show favoritism to anyone. Why? Because He created everyone. He created every single cell of every person. Wise or unwise, beautiful or ugly, it was all His own creation.

It seemed to me that the basic biblical facts that anyone needed to know to become a Christian were simple enough for anyone to understand. Some people told me that the biblical God was too simple to be the real God. There were other religions that you needed to spend years to study in order to understand. Those were real, deep, wise religion. The biblical God was naïve to them. However, I thought that naivety was actually an indication of a real God if there was one.

Another pointer that told me that the biblical God may be true was its straightforward declaration of His own importance to people. Jesus in the bible said that he was the only way to life. Lots of people around me said Jesus was just arrogant, exaggerated, and crazy. They said the other religions would not be so arrogant to claim themselves to be the only way. To me, that was actually a necessary thing for a real God to do. If a kid somehow wondered about who his biological mother was, could the mother say “Try to think it through. Perhaps you were right. Please consider me to be a possibility”? No, she would shout out right away to tell him that she was his mother and no one else was.

There was one more reason that suggested that the God in the Bible might be the real God - the appearance of Christianity itself.
